The value of a trademark or a patent or even a business is based on expected income in the future. And of course money now is better than money tomorrow. So the way I prefer to do this is I valuate how long will this trademark serve me? How much do I think i can get of it per year, and finally, how much more is money today worth compared to money tomorrow? lets say that you value money 10 % more now than in one year from now and so on. Your Trademark will bring you $1,000,000 a year for 6 years. You simply calculate:

year 1: $1,000,000 x1
year 2: $1,000,000 x0,9
year 3: $1,000,000 x0,8
year 4: $1,000,000 x0,7
year 5: $1,000,000 x0,6
year 6: $1,000,000 x0,5

Equals: $ 4,500,000

I started a business out of college which trademarked the name 'Arvus', used the domain www.arvus.com, etc.

The business has since stagnated to the point of disuse. How would I go about appraising the worth of selling the trademark? Where should I start, and do you know of any businesses that assist in this area?

Thanks,
- KC
